Problem

HPi aimed to reach a $1B diversity spend and sought alternative programs with Rand Technology to help achieve this goal. One of the programs involved sourcing cables and PCBs for a location in Taiwan, where HPi wanted Rand to act as an extension of their purchasing department. Although there were no issues with their current supplier, HPi wanted to assess Rand’s competitiveness in this area.

Outcome

  • If selected, the cost of the goods through these suppliers was valued at $40 M, a significant contribution to HPi's diversity spend goal.
  • Although Rand did not secure the bid, the process provided valuable insights into HPi’s procurement strategies and future opportunities for collaboration.
